Chilli Tuna Burgers

This is a great friday night dish. Quick and easy to make when rolling in from the pub and a long week at work. Hearty yet healthy, it almost feels like a cheat meal but it’s actually packed full of protein and tuna is also a good natural source of creatine. It’s also an inexpensive way to get the protein in and a go to when the fridge is looking bare – we always have a tin of tuna in the cupboard. Most importantly these chilli tuna burgers taste great. They can be served simply with salad or veg but I think they work best in a grainy wholewheat bun or protein bread with some avocado and ketchup.

Chilli Tuna Burgers:

Serves 2.

1 tin of tuna (drained) approx 140g.

1/2 an onion (chopped).

1 egg.

2 scoops of natural whey protein isolate powder.

1 clove garlic (minced). I like to add more, add to your own taste.

Juice of 1 lime.

1/2 tsp chilli powder. Add more to taste.

1/2  tsp paprika.

Salt and Pepper.

1 tbsp of virgin coconut oil for cooking.

Add the tuna to a mixing bowl and flake through with a fork.

Add all the remaining ingredients (except the coconut oil) to the bowl and mix through.

Add the coconut oil to a pan on a medium-high heat.

Once the oil is hot, divide the mixture into 2 patties and cook on both sides until brown.
