Hot Chilli Chocolate

A double espresso before a workout obviously increases energy levels, endurance and metabolism and there is also some evidence to suggest that it can help ease post-exercise soreness.

However, if you are very sensitive to caffeine, trying to cut back or just want a change, why not try a hot chilli chocolate shot with nutrient packed cacao. Not only is chocolate and chilli a winning taste combination, they also have great health benefits and even better, can induce a pre-workout high.

Chocolate still contains caffeine but in much smaller amounts than coffee. However, it contains theobromine, phenethylamine and anandamide which are all mood elevators, sure to get you really pepped up and motivated before a workout. Chilli, like caffeine, boosts metabolism and also akin to chocolate, chilli elevates mood, as the body releases endorphins in response.

So adding some chilli powder (to your own taste) to this recipe  will create a pre-workout cocktail for a fantastic natural high.

I’d add chilli instead of sugar but you can use both.
