INSPIRING FITNESS TED TALKS III: SARAH LEWIS

Sarah Lewis Ted Talk

Following on from the previous post – in which Ben talks about getting out of ones comfort zone, challenging ones limits and gaining from adversity, Sarah Lewis talks about staying at ones leading edge in the pursuit of ones goals. She pitches that this is achieved by continuously striving and working for what we feel is just out of reach and “embracing the near win” or almost-failure as a driving force to push us forward. Fitness professionals and fitness media often promote setting achievable and realistic goals. However, Sarah Lewis, along with Ben Saunders and David Blaine, put forward a strong case for aiming for more than what’s simply reasonable and attainable. She promotes embracing missing the target without fearing failure, realising that success is a fleeting moment or perception whilst mastery is a never ending lifetime pursuit.
