Commuter And Active Lifestyle Blazers
Autumn is creeping in and despite school or collage being behind most of us there is a definite new term/semester vibe in the air. Time to refocus, sharpen ones pencils and ones style.

The sports jacket or blazer was once very functional but it has evolved into a stiff, starchy and restrictive garment. The growth in urban, commuter cycle wear is reviving and revisiting the traditional sports jacket, moving back to a garment for utility and an active lifestyle. Just last week Ted Baker launched Raising The Handlebar Collection in association with Wiggle adding further momentum to functional fashion for active urbanites.

Whilst I wouldn’t recommend these garments for either long or hardcore sprint cycles, they are great for go-getter, fit professionals who need, breathable, unrestrictive apparel for about town cycling and busy lives. They look great on and off the bike and facilitate easy transition from the saddle to the office, bar, restaurant or party. You don’t have to be a cycling desk jockey either, these garments are also perfect for travel and those who generally like to live life in action.

The Rapha, Ted Baker, Outlier and Arc’teryx Veilance pieces are great for a smart casual look, paired with active lifestyle jeans or chinos, breathable, sweat wicking shirts, a merino t-shirt, v-neck or polo. The Parker Dusseau suit is a great option for professions or occasions that require more formal attire: Made from breathable, wicking merino with added stretch, combined with classic tailoring and attention to styling details, it’s perfect for feeling unrestricted and comfortable in a formal setting whilst still looking sharp. Pair with a breathable, sweat wicking dress shirt to complete and compliment the look and feel.

Feel free to chime in with what you like and dislike. Have you already got one of these jackets? How do you think they compare to more traditional sports jackets? We’d love to read your thoughts. Drop us a comment.
